Computer Science Academic Advising

Prior to contacting us, be sure to check out our Frequently Asked Questions and Policies for current CS students. If you would like to email an advisor, please do so at

Out of an abundance of caution during the coronavirus public health emergency, we have decided to close the CS Advising Office (2063 Kemper Hall) for in-person advising until further notice. Please note: this decision is an effort to encourage social distancing and not due to any specific health threats to our community. We ask that you frequently check the campus’ Coronavirus webpage for updates.

We recognize that these circumstances call on your resilience and patience. The campus chief wellness officer has provided strategies for dealing with COVID-19 uncertainty that you might find helpful in coping with these unprecedented circumstances.

Advising Appointments:

Appointment Availability Schedule: Monday-Thursday 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm (subject to change due to advisor availability); Monday-Wednesday appointments are reserved for CS/CSE students with mandatory advising holds.

During the office closure, you can schedule advising appointments by using and selecting Computer Science. Appointments are only available for declared CS/CSE majors. Students making an advising hold appointment must have an updated three-quarter plan. Failure to not have an updated plan could result in appointment cancellation. Once you have scheduled an appointment, a Zoom link will be sent within 15 minutes of your scheduled appointment time to your UCD email. Please be aware, if you are 10 minutes late for your appointment, you will not be seen and will have to reschedule.

* Please be advised appointments for GE Advising, academic difficulty, or late drops should be handled by your college dean's office.

* Before discussing your PTA needs or concerns, please review the information here
